A unique 24/7 Research and Development Centre for Surfactant Chemistry

Committed to innovation Venus operates a 24 hour research and development facility located in Goa India. Equipped with the latest analytical instruments this facility's primary goal is development of Non-ionic, Cationic, Anionic and Amphoteric surfactants with a strong focus on renewable resources.


In addition to substantial experience in alkoxylation reactions (EO/PO) and in copolymerization of functionalized polyalkylene glycols, Venus also has in-depth experience in the areas of esterification, alkylation, sulfonation, phosphation, polymerization, and amidification.

Equipped with pilot reactors for alkoxylation, Venus is able to seamlessly transition products from the development phase into scale up production for customer trials. Venus analytical laboratory is equipped with advance instruments such as Gas Chromatography, Infra-Red Spectrophotometer, UltraViolet Spectrophotometer, Karl Fischer, Refractometer, Colorimeter etc. As this business grows Venus continuously upgrades and purchases new equipment to improve its R&D efforts.

In addition to new product development the facility in Goa functions as an applications research centre for various industries and market segments serviced by Venus, including textile, coatings, ink, paint, and HI&I.


Now as part of the Harcros Chemical Group, Venus' R&D, Scale-Up and QC groups collaborate with Harcros' global R&D teams located through the United States and China. This allows Harcros' and Venus' to jointly develop and manufacture products for customers with a global presence.


R&D Team:


The Centre is led by its Director, Dr. Amol Ashok Walke. [Profile: Doctor of Philisophy (Imperial College London, UK); MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering (University of Bath, UK); MSc Chemical Process Research and Development (University of Liverpool, UK); BSc Industrial Chemistry (Goa University)].

The Venus R&D team consists of personnel with 15-20 years of experience in development, production and marketing in the surfactant industry as well as, post-graduates, graduates and junior engineers.
