What PEG is used for

Pharmaceutical uses

Low-MW PEG liquids solubilize actives and build ointment/vehicle systems. Higher-MW PEG (e.g. PEG 3350) appears in osmotic laxatives; PEG 4000–6000 grades support granulation and tablet lubrication/binding. Personal care and cosmetic uses

Detergent and industrial solvent uses
